Before you launch: test with a few people, then make it simpler
Small usability tests and simpler forms are two of the cheapest ways to improve a new website, app or digital product before launch. Here is how to do both.
Caresque Limited is a consultancy that helps organisations plan, design, build and launch, with specialist knowledge of health and social care. We combine commercial strategy with hands on product, digital and marketing delivery.
Caresque was set up by Stephen Fielding after more than 20 years in commercial leadership and eight years in senior roles at home care and live in care companies across London and the South East. Working alongside NHS Trusts, GPs and Local Authorities, he saw how often good care was held back by slow processes, disconnected systems and services that weren't designed around the people using them.
Caresque exists to fix that. We help health and social care organisations improve patient flow, keep their clients and carers, and bring new products and services to market, from strategy and design through to apps and websites. We've also built our own products, including Coming Home: Family Care, an app for unpaid family carers.
Our approach is practical: understand the real problem, design with the people it affects, and deliver something that works on day one.

Stephen Fielding is the founder and director of Caresque Limited. After more than 20 years in commercial leadership, he has spent eight years in senior roles at UK home care and live in care companies across London and the South East, working with NHS trusts, GPs and councils on getting people home from hospital.
He is also the founder of Coming Home: Family Care, Caresque's own iPhone app for families looking after someone at home, and Managing Director of Dignity Access Limited.
If it can be said simply, we say it simply.
We only claim what we can show.
Everyone should be able to use what we make.
Especially when the people at the end of the work are patients, carers and families.
We plan around how NHS teams, trusts and pathways actually work, and we never borrow NHS identity or imply NHS endorsement.
We design for care providers, councils, families and the people they support, with plain language and dignity at the centre.
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 AA in everything we design and build, and we test with keyboards and screen readers.
We practise data protection by design: collect less, explain clearly, and keep people in control of their information.
We shape our working practices around the kind of controls the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) expects.
